Eddie's Story: My Father was falsely accused of sexually abusing his thirty year old Granddaughter when she was a child. The allegation could not be substantiated. As the girl began to involve other people in her story, it was proven to be obviously untrue.

It turns out that the girl's mother had built up resentments and encouraged the girl into an unhealthy alliance with her. Together, they developed an obsessive hatred of my father and both alleged that our family had conspired against their mother. We hadn't! The mother suffers from undiagnosed paranoia and is always alleging that people have caused her offense. I should mention that she has a problem with alcohol and her father was a violent alcoholic.

I encouraged the girl to go to the Police, but they undermined my Father behind his back. The girl's maternal uncles and mother spread rumors all over our town. No mentioned of this was made to my family. No allegation was ever voiced to my father! This was a smear campaign carried out behind his back.

This allegation caused a rift in the family, as it allowed the girl's family to justify their inappropriate and unacceptable behavior.

I think my father deserves an apology from his accuser and her mother. He will not get one. They will never admit they were wrong. The girl's mother even got violent with my sister over a separate issue. This lady is prone to violence. She used to go out at night and look for fights with total strangers.

My father has had to live with this allegation floating around. He has been the subject of gossip as a result of the malicious tongue-wagging of a very disturbed woman and her daughter!

We do not feel that we can use the law to defend my father. He does not want to push it, especially because the girl is his granddaughter. Even so, I feel that the mother and daughter should be exposed for their character assassination.

Fortunately, my father is quite well known. The mud-slinging hasn't stuck. Most people see the allegation for what it is: malicious mud slinging by an unhappy and vindictive daughter in-law and her family.
