Jeremy's Story: I am writing on behalf of my Son, Jeremy. He is approaching his twenty-third birthday; however, when he was just twenty-one, he was accused of 'rape by digital penetration' of an underage girl at a party where he was serving alcohol as a bar man.

Jeremy was almost immediately arrested, stripped, and forced to spend the rest of the night and most of the following day in a prison cell without food or drink. DNA was extracted. Eventually, he was interviewed. He provided a full account of the evening, as he experienced it.

Two months later, the 'victim' made available the video which her prosecution used in court as the 'best available evidence' against my son. This video was only produced after many weeks had transpired. It should have been produced immediately.

Ultimately, my son was charged and attended many court appearances. His trial was just earlier this year. A hung jury could not decide on a verdict, so the prosecution was granted a re-trial. At the re-trial, the jury found him unanimously not guilty.

My son had not interfered in any way with this girl. He made the mistake of helping her when she was sick.

We are currently having difficulty getting his sentence at the Criminal Records Bureau stepped down. We allege that he was innocent and always has been. Even so, record of this fiasco will continue to appear on any background checks made against him.

Jeremy soon after lost his job. He is suffering from severe mental depression, bouts of anger, and has attempted suicide twice. Jeremy is now undergoing counseling, but still can see no future for himself. He is difficult to live with it. I can only assume he finds it difficult to live with himself.

There was no repercussion or penalties against the girl, her family, and the police who aggressively prosecuted the case. We believe financial gain may have been their motivation.

How can this be? My son's life has been ruined, but he didn't do anything wrong. We receive no apology, and no compensation for the extreme stress we have been forced to endure. Day by day, we are still fighting this.

What help is there for him now? Where can we go to for support? Where can we go to seek financial compensation for these false claims? What future is there for him and our family?

We have all been punished by a foolish girl and her malicious family's accusations against an innocent young man. Who knows what will become of him? May God help him and us.
